U.S. Department of Homeland Security signs agreement with Washington State to develop enhanced driver’s licence pilot

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Washington State to work together on the development of an enhanced driver’s licence pilot. The Washington pilot project will assess the feasibility of using enhanced driver’s licences as valid border-crossing documents under the U.S. WHTI requirements.

The United States has yet to release its proposed rule for land and sea travel; however, a passport will be valid for all modes of travel under the WHTI.
