<p>Foreign Affairs Minister Pierre Pettigrew today issued the following statement following
the death of former British Foreign Secretary Robin Cook.</p>
<br>
<p>“Robin Cook was a brilliant mind in British politics. An articulate debater, he never
faltered to defend his beliefs with passion and conviction.</p>
<br>
<p>“Mr. Cook shared Canada’s views on defending civilians against tyranny and against
failed states. His leadership during the NATO campaign to protect the civilian
population of Kosovo will be especially remembered.”</p>
<br>
<p>“On behalf of all Canadians, I wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to Mr. Cook’s
family and friends and to the British people whom he served with honour and dignity.”</p>
