MINISTER MACKAY MARKS JULY 7 BOMBINGS IN LONDON, U.K.
The Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of the Atlantic
Canada Opportunities Agency, today issued the following statement marking the July 7,
2005 terrorist bombings in London, United Kingdom:
“The London bombings, which occurred one year ago today, were an unspeakable
attack on the innocent and an affront to our shared values of freedom and openness.
“On behalf of all Canadians, I wish to express to the British people that the thoughts of
all of us are with you as you remember those whose lives were cut short, or changed
forever, on that fateful day.
“The attacks served as a stark reminder that no country is immune to the threat of
global terrorism. Canadians understand this, and the need to remain diligent in meeting
terrorist challenges both at home and abroad.
“In this effort, we are well served by our partnership with the United Kingdom. Together
with our allies, we must and we will stand against these terrorists.”
