STATEMENT BY MINISTER MACKAY ON MUMBAI TRAIN BOMBINGS
The Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of the Atlantic
Canada Opportunities Agency, today made the following statement in response to the
Tuesday night rush hour bombings in Mumbai, India, targeting commuter trains:
“The terrorist bombings in Mumbai, India, are a deplorable act of violence against
innocent civilians. On behalf of all Canadians, I extend our condolences and
sympathies. Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those who have lost their
lives or suffered injuries as a result of these terrible events.
“This is another awful reminder of the determination of terrorists who use murder as an
instrument to advance their political ends.
“Canada stands with India, a proud democracy, in condemning these acts of terror
perpetrated by those who value human life less than their own extreme beliefs.”
