STATEMENT BY MINISTER MACKAY ON SUICIDE BOMBING IN
PAKISTAN
The Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of the Atlantic
Canada Opportunities Agency, today issued the following statement in response to the
terrorist attack in Pakistan that claimed the lives of 42 military recruits:
“The Government of Canada condemns the terrorist attack against Pakistani military
forces that took place yesterday at Dargai in North West Frontier Province. There can
be no justification for such an attack, and we extend our condolences to the families of
those affected.
“Pakistan has an important role to play in the global fight against terrorism and is a key
partner for Canada in addressing the comprehensive security and development needs
of Afghanistan.”
