Studying in Canada

The Canadian High Commission in Brunei provides education counselling for students and outreach activities in support of education in Canada.

Canada promotes educational services in Brunei by counselling Brunei students, through holding frequent educational fairs to attract Brunei students, by helping the Brunei Ministry of Education to recruit Canadian teachers, by encouraging more Brunei scholarship students to study in Canada, and by exploring the possibility of special training programs.

Canada has much to offer students from Brunei.

Voted #1 - For a number of years Canada has been voted by the United Nations as the country with the best quality of life in the world. It is a clean, safe, beautiful and multicultural country with a high standard of living.

World class universities - Canada spends more per capita on its education system than any other G-7 country. Canadian degrees are recognized around the world and Canadian universities have produced Nobel Prize winners in chemistry, economics and other disciplines.

Very competitive tuition fees -The cost of living in Canada is modest, and tuition is subsidized by the federal and provincial governments, making Canada a relative bargain for Brunei students, especially compared to other traditional study destinations. The average cost of tuition and living expenses for a nine-month academic year in Canada is approximately $17,500 (BND).

Wide range of opportunities for students - Canada has more than 80 universities and colleges, with more than 175,000 international students. More than half of these international students come from the Asia Pacific region including from the ASEAN countries. As well as world-accredited law, medicine, engineering, computer, education and business degrees there is a course of study available in Canada for any interest and aptitude including military and police colleges; trade and technology colleges; film, TV, journalism, and art schools. Canadian schools offer students many extra-curricular activities as well. University life is about study and learning more about yourself.

Welcoming environment - Canada is a bilingual and multicultural country that celebrates its diversity. There are Muslim communities in various Canadian cities and Brunei students will find ready access to mosques and halal food.

A High Tech Country - Study in Canada also introduces Brunei students to an international leader in computer and information technology, with an international reputation for excellence in such sectors as telecommunications, transportation and engineering.
