Canada is an outstanding four-season tourist destination, where people from Brunei, who know only
one season, can enjoy the pleasures of the changing seasons -- the flowers of spring, our summer, the
colours of our autumn, and even winter, where you can learn downhill skiing, cross-country skiing
or even ice skating.
For the visitor from Brunei, Canada offers cooler weather, natural beauty, geographic and cultural
diversity, and exciting and multicultural cities where there is a great variety of activities, food and
entertainment to enjoy.
And Canada is not as far as some might think. In fact, travel times to Vancouver, which is the
Pacific gateway to Canada for visitors from Asia, are the same as flying to London or destinations in
Europe.
Direct air connections to Vancouver are found through Singapore and Hong Kong. For travellers
from Brunei, this means flying Bandar-Singapore-Vancouver, or Bandar-Hong Kong-Vancouver.
Service on these routes is available through Singapore Airlines (from Singapore), Cathay Pacific (
from Hong Kong) or Air Canada (from Hong Kong).
Another advantage of visiting Canada is that we offer a very favourable exchange rate on the Brunei
dollar for tourists from Brunei.
Visitors to Canada from Brunei will find that Canada is one of the most popular tourist destinations
in the world. Canada is currently the 9th largest international destination for tourists, with nearly a
three percent share of the global international tourism market in the year 2000.
Nearly 20 million tourists visited Canada in the year 2000, mostly from the United States. But many
others also visited from Europe, Asia, Latin America and Africa. There are major tourism flows to
Canada from the Asia-Pacific region, including from south-east Asia.
