Bill Graham, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced the following diplomatic appointment:
Rocco Delvecchio becomes Consul General in Detroit (United States of America).

BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE
Rocco Delvecchio (BSc, Honours, University of Toronto, 1967; MSc, University of Toronto, 1972; Doctoral Program,
University of Toronto, 1973; Program for Management Development, Harvard Business School, 1989) joined the Ministry
of Transport in 1975, after several years with TV Ontario and the Ontario Ministry of Transportation and Communications.
In 1979, he joined the Ministry of State for Economic and Regional Development as a policy analyst. In 1983, he became
Director General, Aerospace and Defence, at Industry Canada, a position he held until 1989. From 1990 to 1994, he served
as Director General, Resource Processing Industries Branch. In 1995-96 he served as Director General and Manager, Forest
Industries and Building Products, and Functional Adviser for Trade. Since 1996, Mr. Delvecchio has been Executive
Director of Investment Partnerships Canada, a joint venture of Industry Canada and the Department of Foreign Affairs and
International Trade with a mandate to attract, retain and expand foreign investment in Canada. He is married to Rosemary
Delvecchio and they have two children. Mr. Delvecchio succeeds John Tennant.
