Welcome to the Web site of the Canadian Embassy in Harare. We hope that our site will help you to find whatever information you need on the various activities of the embassy, whether in Zimbabwe, Angola or Botswana, our countries of accreditation.
The staff at our Embassy, both Canadian and Zimbabwean, work hard to deliver programmes and offer services of real value to Canadians and our African hosts alike. Together we actively seek to use our vigorous development cooperation programme to strengthen civil society organizations; to underpin regional and country efforts to combat HIV/AIDS, build capacity, and meet food and humanitarian needs in the region; and to increase gender and environmental awareness and inspire local community initiative.
We offer good advice and contacts for trade and business development in Angola, Botswana and Zimbabwe. We work to promote political and economic dialogue and commitment to the governance, economic and development goals of NEPAD. Through a vibrant media and public affairs programme, we work to get across to all people of the region the Canadian Africa Action Plan messages of respect for the universal values of tolerance, the rule of law, human rights, and sound economic and development policy aimed at improving the lives of the real people of Africa.
Particularly important to many readers is our commitment to efficient consular and emergency assistance to Canadians. If you are a Canadian resident in Zimbabwe, Botswana or Angola, we urge you to register with the Embassy so that we can locate you and offer help in an emergency. Registration is a simple on-line process.
While the Canadian High Commission in Pretoria is responsible for the immigration programme, we facilitate this service through our mission in Harare, as well assisting them through the issuance of visitor and student visas locally. You'll find more detailed information on immigration matters elsewhere on this site.
