The Canadian Consulate General in Shanghai
In this website you will find information about our mission and the services provided.
The website is divided into six distinct sections:
Consular,
Visa Section,
Trade,
Public Affairs
and Provinces of Quebec and
Ontario.
Canada opened its first representative office in Shanghai in 1908, making it
the oldest existing mission in Asia. The office was officially closed during
World War II but in 1948 was granted full consular status. The primary
functions of the Consulate in Shanghai are related to promoting trade and
providing services to Canadians.
The Canadian Consulate General Shanghai covers the Yangzi Delta – the
largest economic region in China, consisting of Shanghai, the largest city
in China, and the provinces of Anhui, Jiangsu and Zhejiang.
The Yangzi Delta is one of the most populous places in the world, and
Shanghai is paving the way to help this region's economic prosperity. We are
here to help Canadians be a part of the most exciting periods of history.
