<p>Media representatives are advised that International Trade Minister Pierre Pettigrew will meet with leaders of the South
Asian Canadian business community on Thursday, January 24, 2002, in Toronto. Minister Pettigrew will deliver the
keynote address entitled "Canada and South Asia: Partners for the New Century." He will also launch the Government of
Canada's South Asia Trade Action Plan. Representatives from the South Asian diplomatic community, as well as from the
Indo-Canada, Canada Bangladesh and Canadian Tamils' chambers of commerce, and the Canada Pakistan Business
Council will be in attendance.</p>
