PETTIGREW - MULTI-SECTORAL MISSION TO AFRICA
October 10, 2002 No. 103
Media representatives are invited to participate in a multi-sectoral trade and investment mission to South Africa, Nigeria
and Senegal led by International Trade Minister Pierre Pettigrew from November 15 to 26, 2002. The mission seeks to
establish business and trade relationships between Canadian companies and African partners.
This mission fulfills one of the commitments made by Prime Minister Jean Chrétien at the G8 Summit in Kananaskis last
June. During the Summit the Prime Minister announced steps to develop stronger trade and investment links between
Canada and African nations and increased access to Canadian markets for African exporters. This trade mission offers a
unique opportunity to observe Canada's international business development efforts as well as Canada's trade programs and
policies in action.
All media representatives are requested to submit their requests no later than Friday, November 1, 2002, to the attention of
the Team Canada Division. A full cost estimate including airfare and rates for hotel accommodation, meals and related
expenses will be available upon inquiry.
