<html> <head> <meta name="Generator" content="Corel WordPerfect 8"> <title>KNUTSON - VISIT TO AZERBAIJAN, GEORGIA AND ARMENIA</title> </head> <body text="#000000" link="#0000ff" vlink="#551a8b" alink="#ff0000" bgcolor="#c0c0c0"> <p><strong>November 8, 2002 No. 122</strong></p> <p>Media representatives are advised that Gar Knutson, Secretary of State (Central and Eastern Europe and Middle East), will visit Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia from November 11 to 16, 2002. </p> <p>In <strong>Azerbaijan</strong>, Mr. Knutson will meet with President Haydar Aliyev, the Minister of Economic Development, business and civil society representatives and government officials. He will also attend a book launch of an Azeri language translation of <em>The Loon's Necklace</em> by Canadian author William Toye. </p> <p>While in <strong>Georgia</strong>, Mr. Knutson will meet with President Eduard Shevardnadze, and will attend a donors' breakfast round table on conflict resolution within Georgia. He will also attend a round table with the UN Organization Mission in Georgia (UNOMIG) and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, as well as an event on social, political and development issues with civil society representatives, to be hosted by the Georgia Foundation for Strategic and International Studies.
