<p>Media representatives are advised that International Trade Minister Pierre Pettigrew will be the guest speaker at a lunch
hosted by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, May 2, in Ottawa. The Minister will be making a speech on
the launch of <em>Trade Update 2002: Third Annual Report on Canada's State of Trade</em>, which will be tabled in the House of
Commons in the morning. After the speech, Mr. Pettigrew will answer questions from Chamber members followed by
questions from the media.</p>
<p>A senior departmental official will also be available to answer technical questions on background if needed.</p>
