Home Visas and Immigration Study Permit

Study Permit

Study Permit applications should be received
at least 6 weeks before the expected day of departure.

For information on Study Permits please consult the following website.

To apply for a Study Permit, you must present the following:

  • Application form, duly completed and signed.
  • Original Letter of Acceptance from an educational institution in Canada stating that you have been accepted into a course of study.
  • Certificates of studies.
  • Proof of funds or a scholarship to cover the cost of studies, accommodation and incidentals in Canada.
  • Passport valid for at least 12 months.
  • Two recent passport-size photos (with your full name written on the back).
  • Fee payment at Banco Metropolitano.
  • A letter from the Cuban institution supporting your application, if applicable.
  • Medical examination, if applicable.
  • If a close relative in Canada is offering financial support or lodging, you will need to submit proof of the relationship and a fax or letter of invitation from the host in Canada providing details of the purpose of the invitation. Such an invitation must include, at a minimum, the full name, contact details, immigration status, balance sheet, income statement, and the signature of a person inviting you.
  • If you intend to study in the Province of Québec, you should obtain a Certificat d'acceptation du Québec from the Service d'immigration du Québec:

  • If you are under the age of 16 and travelling alone or with only one parent, you will require a notarized authorization to travel from the non-accompanying parent(s).
