Work Permit

Work Permit applications should be received
at least 6 weeks before the expected day of departure.

The Embassy of Canada cannot provide information about job opportunities in Canada. As a general rule, persons who intend to work temporarily in Canada must have a job offer and then apply for a work permit before entering Canada.

To apply for a Work Permit, you will need to submit the following:

  • A formal job offer confirmed by Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC), if applicable.
  • Official application form, duly completed and signed.
  • Certificates of studies.
  • Signed and sealed letter from employer in Cuba, if applicable.
  • Letters of reference from present and past employers.
  • Contract signed between the employer and the applicant.
  • Curriculum vitae.
  • A passport valid for at least 12 months.
  • Two recent passport-size photos (with your name written on the back).
  • Fee payment at Banco Metropolitano.
  • Medical examinations, if applicable.
  • If you intend to study in the Province of Québec, you should obtain a Certificat d'acceptation du Québec from the Service d'immigration du Québec:
