TECHNICAL BRIEFING ON MINISTERIAL CONFERENCE OF LA FRANCOPHONIE
ON CONFLICT PREVENTION AND HUMAN SECURITY
The Ministerial Conference of La Francophonie on conflict prevention and human
security will take place in St. Boniface, Manitoba, from May 12 to 14, 2006. This
conference confirms the commitment of the member countries of La Francophonie,
including Canada, to establishing and building democracy, preventing conflict, and
advocating the rule of law and human rights. The results of the conference will inform
discussions at the next Summit of La Francophonie, to be held in Bucharest, Romania,
in September 2006.
In preparation for the conference, Foreign Affairs Canada’s Director General of
International Organizations, Ferry de Kerckhove, will provide a technical briefing to
members of the media.
