NETHERLANDS</span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: 'Arial', sans-serif">The Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of the Atlantic
Canada Opportunities Agency, will meet his counterpart from the Netherlands,
Dr. Bernard R. Bot, in Halifax on Sunday, September 17, 2006. The ministers will
discuss a variety of issues in Canada-Netherlands relations.</span></p>
<br>
<p><span style="font-family: 'Arial', sans-serif">Significantly, the meeting will allow the ministers to continue the ongoing dialogue on
mutual efforts to assist Afghanistan on the path to stability, good governance and
economic development. Engagement by both countries in southern Afghanistan is key
to helping the people of that region realize the benefits of reconstruction.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: 'Arial', sans-serif">Before the meeting, the ministers will be available to meet the media.</span></p>
