<p><font size="-1"></font><font size="-1">Nous informons les représentants des médias que le ministre d'État et leader du gouvernement à la Chambre des
communes, M. Don Boudria, effectuera une visite à Cotonou, au Bénin, du 13 au 15 juin.</font></p>
<p><font size="-1">Le ministre Boudria dirigera, au nom du ministre des Anciens combattants et secrétaire d'État (Diversification de
l'économie de l'Ouest canadien) (Francophonie), M. Ronald J. Duhamel, la délégation canadienne à la 3<sup>e</sup>
Conférence ministérielle sur la culture.</font></p>
<p><font size="-1">Cette conférence a pour but de faire le point sur l'action culturelle de la Francophonie, et de permettre aux États et
gouvernements de la Francophonie d'actualiser leur coopération et actions culturelles en fonction des nouvelles
exigences de la mondialisation et de la diversité culturelle. Elle se tient 10 ans après la dernière Conférence
ministérielle sur la culture tenue à Liège, en Belgique, en 1990.</font></p>
<p><font size="-1">Les résultats de la Conférence de Cotonou contribueront substantiellement à l'orientation des travaux de la 9<sup>e</sup>
Conférence des chefs d'État et de gouvernement des pays ayant le français en partage, qui se tiendra à Beyrouth, au
Liban, du 26 au 28 octobre prochain et qui sera consacrée au dialogue des cultures.</font></p>

<p><font size="-1">We would like to inform the media that Don Boudria, Minister of State and Leader of the Government in the House
of Commons, will visit Cotonou, Benin, from June 13 to 15.</font></p>
<p><font size="-1">Minister Boudria will lead the Canadian delegation to the Third Ministerial Conference on Culture, on behalf of
Minister of Veterans Affairs and Secretary of State (Western Economic Diversification) (Francophonie) Ron J.
Duhamel.</font></p>
<p><font size="-1">The purpose of the Conference is to take stock of the cultural action of La Francophonie and to enable the states and
governments of La Francophonie to update their co-operation efforts and cultural action to bring them into line with
the new demands of globalization and cultural diversity, ten years after the last Ministerial Conference on Culture in
Liège, Belgium, in 1990.</font></p>
<p><font size="-1">The results of the Cotonou Conference will be of considerable assistance in guiding the work of the Ninth
Francophone Summit of Heads of State and Government, which will take place in Beirut, Lebanon, from October 26
to 28, 2001, and which will focus on dialogue among cultures.</font></p>
