<p>The Minister of Veterans Affairs and Secretary of State (Western Economic Diversification)
(Francophonie), Ron J. Duhamel, will be hosting the Conférence des ministres de la jeunesse et
des sports de la Francophonie (CONFEJES) [Conference of Youth and Sports Ministers of La
Francophonie] and the special session of the Comité international des Jeux de la Francophonie
(CIJF) [International Committee for the Games of La Francophonie] in Ottawa, on July 13 and
16, 2001, respectively. The Minister will also lead the Canadian delegation at these special
sessions, in which the Secretary General of the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie
[International Organization of La Francophonie], Boutros Boutros-Ghali, will be participating. </p>

<p><strong>Open coverage: Minister Duhamel will take part in the opening ceremony of the
CONFEJES and will give an address on behalf of the Prime Minister of Canada.
Mr. Boutros-Ghali and Egypt's Minister of Youth, Aly El Dean Hillal, who is Chairman of
the CONFEJES, will also be delivering speeches.</strong></p>
