While in New York, Mr. Manley will run the 32nd Annual New York City Marathon, which will proceed under the theme "United We Run." This year's race, hosting 30 000 athletes, with the assistance of 12 000 volunteers, is dedicated to the victims of the tragic events of Tuesday, September 11, and to the courageous and determined rescue workers. The Minister will host a pre-marathon reception for Canadian participants. He will also participate in the International Friendship Run where he will carry the Canadian flag. Therefore, media availability will follow the tour of Ground Zero and will take place at the edge of the site. Media wishing to participate must travel to the area in an official vehicle.
