<html> <head> <meta name="Generator" content="Corel WordPerfect 8"> <title>CANADA CONDEMNS TERRORIST BOMBINGS IN TURKEY</title> </head> <body text="#000000" link="#0000ff" vlink="#551a8b" alink="#ff0000" bgcolor="#c0c0c0"> <p><font size="+1"></font><font size="+1"><strong>November 20, 2003 <em>(1:35 p.m. EST)</em> No. 176</strong></font></p> <p align="CENTER"><font size="+1"><strong>CANADA CONDEMNS TERRORIST BOMBINGS IN TURKEY</strong></font></p> <p>Foreign Affairs Minister Bill Graham strongly condemned the explosions that took place in Istanbul today, which took the lives of dozens of people including the British Consul General Roger Short. It was the second such attack in less than a week.</p> <p>"Canadians everywhere deplore these appalling and depraved acts of terror," said Minister Graham. "Canada extends its deepest condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims, to the family of Roger Short, and to the Turkish and British peoples. This horrific attack demonstrates the continued need to work together with the international community against all such acts of violence."</p> <p>Consular officials at the Canadian embassy in Ankara and at the consulate in Istanbul are in continuous contact with the appropriate authorities and hospitals.
