Right of Permanent Residence Fee reduced to $490 effective May 3, 2006

The Federal Government announced during the budget speech its plan to reduce the Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF) from $975 to $490 for all categories of immigrants who are subject to the fee effective May 3rd, 2006.

As a result of the reduction of the RPRF anyone who has already paid the fee but who has not yet become a permanent residents by the effective date will be eligible for a refund of $485.  If you have already received your visa but not yet become a permanent resident the refund should be claimed after your arrival in Canada.  If you have already paid the RPRF at our office in Moscow but not yet received your visa a RPRF refund will be processed when you receive your visa or at any other time you request it.

If the RPRF has been paid by your sponsor in Canada it will be refunded automatically by the processing office in Canada.
