Right of Permanent
Residence Fee reduced to $490 effective May 3, 2006
The Federal Government announced during the budget
speech its plan to reduce the Right of Permanent Residence Fee
(RPRF) from $975 to $490 for all categories of immigrants who are subject to the
fee effective May 3rd, 2006.
As a result of the reduction
of the RPRF anyone who has already paid the fee but who has
not yet become a permanent residents by
the effective date will be eligible for a refund of $485. If you have already received
your visa but
not yet become a permanent resident the refund should be claimed after your
arrival in Canada. If you have already paid the RPRF at our office in Moscow
but not yet received your visa a RPRF refund will be processed when you receive your visa
or at any other time you request it.
If the RPRF has been paid by your sponsor
in Canada it will be refunded automatically by the processing office in Canada.
