The Consulate Assistance to Canadians
Do not hesitate to contact the Consulate General should you require assistance while you are in
North-West Russia.
Consular Section
The Consular section is open to the public from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday - Friday except for Canadian
and Russian holidays. For emergencies, Canadians may contact the Canadian Consulate General at
(812) 325-8448 and follow the instructions. After working hours, Canadians may call the same
number and follow instructions to be transferred to the Emergency Consular Centre in Ottawa.
Emergency Assistance to Canadian Citizens
- Replacement of lost/stolen passports;
- Making arrangements for emergency medical treatment;
- Assistance to the arrested Canadians (providing list of attorneys, contacting Canadian relatives);
- Preparation of repatriation loans for destitute Canadians;
- death cases: when a Canadian dies in our consular district (North-West Russia), the Consulate General assists in making the necessary arrangements for repatriation of remains;
- Maintenance of warden system for contacting Canadian citizens in the event of an emergency;
Non-Emergency Assistance to Canadian Citizens
- Routine passport issuance
- Reports for birth abroad for Canadian citizens
- Registration of Canadian citizens
- Liaison with Russian authorities on visa regime, customs, marriages to Russian citizens, etc
- Federal benefits: distribution of tax forms, social security applications, voting information
- Lists of local attorneys and doctors/hospitals
NB: Canadian citizens come to the Consular section with all
sorts of requests. The lists above are not exhaustive, they merely provide an idea of the range
of activities and services offered by the consular section. Do not hesitate to contact us may you
