KILGOUR TO VISIT MOSCOW, PRAGUE AND ZAGREB
Secretary of State (Latin America and Africa) David Kilgour today announced that he
will visit Moscow, Prague and Zagreb from October 12 to 18.
"This part of the world has witnessed historic changes in the past few weeks and I look
forward to discussing recent events," said Kilgour. "The visit will also provide the
opportunity to promote closer ties with Russia, the Czech Republic and Croatia."
In Moscow on October 13, Kilgour will address the Moscow State Institute of
International Relations on the topic of "Canada and the World." He will also meet with
Georgy Mamedov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, to discuss issues of mutual
concern.
Kilgour will visit Prague from October 15 to 17 to participate in the Forum 2000
Conference at the invitation of President Vaclav Havel. The theme of the conference is
"Education, Culture and Spiritual Values in the Age of Globalization." He will also speak
to Canadian studies students at Masaryk University in Brno.
On October 18, Kilgour will be in Zagreb to address the Croatian Chamber of the
Economy with the goal of encouraging business ties between Canada and Croatia. He
will speak on "Doing Business in a Globalizing World."
