Canada and Brunei have established relations since
1984. Both our countries are part of the Commonwealth, as well as members of
international and regional organizations such as the United Nations, Asia Pacific
Economic Cooperation forum ( APEC). Brunei has been for the past three years
until July 2006, our dialogue coordinating partner country for ASEAN. Furthermore Brunei is a key partner in Canada’s efforts to build a more secure
world, collaborating on health, security and prosperity issues.
Our mission
is to increase bilateral trade and investment, to deepen our relationship in
civil society, including efforts to reach out to Muslim communities, to expand
our political and economic dialogue, to broaden the scope of our cultural and
academic relationship and generally to share our experiences in many areas of
human endeavour.
Canada, as a knowledge-based and
competitive economy with an advanced communications infrastructure, world class
reputation in aerospace, biotechnology, research and development, information
& communications technologies, and environment technologies, is a reliable
partner. It also is a world leader in e-government and e-learning and its
educational system and universities are among the best.
