The Office of Protocol (XDD)

• Facilitates Presence in Canada of Foreign Representatives and Their Dependents

• Plans, Coordinates and Implements all Official Visits to Canada

• Plans and Coordinates Official International Travel by the Governor General, the Prime Minister and Ministers of the Portfolio

• Provides for Ministerial and Officials' Representation at International Conferences

• Plans, Coordinates and Implements all Official Events in Canada and Abroad

Diplomatic Corps Services Division (XDC)

• Facilitates the presence in Canada of approximately 8,000 foreign representatives and their eligible family members, by leading various accreditation programs and providing a central focus of documentation services

• Oversees the accreditation of Foreign Defence/Military Attachés, Foreign Heads of Mission as well as Canadian Heads of Mission

• Monitors compliance of those persons with various levels of immunities to the regulations and policies that govern them in Canada, while ensuring that Canadian laws are respected

• Administers various privileges programs for eligible foreign representatives and family members, and liaise with other federal departments and agencies as well as provincial and municipal governments

• Manages certain aspects of State Ceremonial and special functions involving or attended by members of the diplomatic corps

• Supports the RCMP in its role of discharging Canada's obligations in respect to the security and protection of eligible foreign representatives and family members

Official Visits Division (XDV)

• Coordinates State and Official Visits to Canada

• Coordinates Official Travel Abroad of the Governor General, Prime Minister and Portfolio Ministers

• Defines Standards of Treatment for State, Official, Working and Private Visits of Heads of State, Heads of Government, Ministers Guests of Government

• Coordinates Airport Courtesy Clearances

Management Services Division (XDM)

• Advises the Chief of Protocol on all Management issues.

• Manages the Protocol Budgets (including the International Conferences and the Government Hospitality Allotments).

• Writes reports related to the Administration of the Office of Protocol.

• Administers and controls Financial operations, Human Resources and various other Management action requests in Protocol.

• Administers Official Events Program

• Manages Departmental Event Facilities

• Administers Portfolio Gift Bank
