National Parks and Historic Sites

Canada's National Parks
There are 39 national parks and national park reserves in Canada. Each protects an outstanding example of our country's natural beauty and ecological diversity. They are part of an international system of protected areas in Canada, North America and the global community.

National Marine Conservation Areas
Canada has over 243,000 km of coastline along three oceans and another 9500 km along the Great Lakes - the longest coastline in the world. The National Marine Conservation Areas Program is a national system of marine protected areas which represent the full range of marine ecosystems found in Canada's Atlantic, Arctic and Pacific oceans, and the Great Lakes

National Historic Sites
National historic sites bear witness to Canada's defining moments and illustrate its human creativity and cultural traditions. Each national historic site tells its own unique story, part of the greater story of Canada, and can be found in almost any setting - from urban and rural locales, to wilderness environments.
