RSS Feed (RSS 2.0) XML

What is RSS?

Rich Site Summary (RSS) or Real Simple Syndication, is an XML-based format for content distribution in real time.

How does RSS work?

To receive an RSS feed you will need to download a news reader or aggregator program that reads the XML code from the websites you select and lists a summary of news items distributed by those sites. You can read only the summaries or link to the full document on the website where it is published. RSS allows you to customize the news you receive by selecting from sites that offer the service.

Where do I get an RSS News Reader or Aggregator?

There are many such programs available for purchase or for free download on the Internet.

How do I add a news feed to my RSS news reader or aggregator?

Once the program is installed, right click your mouse on the XML orange graphic. In the Microsoft I.E. browser "copy shortcut" and in Netscape and Firefox browsers "Copy Link Location" from the menu that appears. In your news aggregator or news reader application and paste the news feed URL into an "add new feed" window.

Instructions on how to add news feeds may vary from one news reader to another and should be included in the application you choose.

When the news reader application is open, it will alert you about news posted on the sites you have added.
