Federal Environmental Assessment Index

The Federal Environmental Assessment Index (FEAI) was created in January 1995 when the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act was first proclaimed. Although not mandatory, it served as a tool for federal responsible authorities to promote public participation in the environmental assessment process.

The FEAI was replaced in October 2003 by the new Canadian Environmental Assessment Registry and was consequently closed on October 29, 2004. You may still search the archived FEAI, but you will note that certain environmental assessments do not show a decision and decision date. This may be as a result of departments/agencies no longer having access to the FEAI in order to update this information. You may still find review panels and comprehensive studies initiated before October 30, 2003.

If you have any comments or questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Agency.
