Alliance Pipeline

Alberta / British Columbia

Description: Alliance Pipeline Ltd. has submitted a proposal to construct and operate the Canadian portion of a natural gas pipeline system from northeastern British Columbia and northwestern Alberta to the mid-west United States.

Decision of the Minister of the Environment: On November 23, 1998, following a review of public comments and the environmental assessment report, the Minister concluded that the project is unlikely to cause significant adverse environmental effects and referred the project back to the responsible authorities for appropriate next steps.

Federal Responsible Authority(ies): National Energy Board (lead), Fisheries and Oceans Canada and the Prairie Farm Rehabilitation Administration within Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada
