Victor Diamond Project

Ontario

Description: De Beers Canada Corporation has submitted a proposal to construct, operate and then close an open-pit diamond mine and related infrastructure and facilities at the Victor site in Northern Ontario, 90 km west of the community of Attawapiskat.

Decision of the Minister of the Environment: On August 19, 2005, the Minister of the Environment and Minister responsible for the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency, announced that the proposed Victor Diamond Mine Project in Northern Ontario does not require further assessment by a review panel or mediator under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act.
