Orientation to the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act

This course provides participants with a good overview of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act. It introduces key regulations under the Act and offers guidance on putting the federal environmental assessment process into practice.

Ideal participants

Individuals involved in planning, managing, conducting, reviewing or participating in assessments carried under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act.

Outcomes and benefits

The course will:

  • provide you with an overview of the key elements of the Act and its regulations, and how they work in practice

  • help you to understand how the Act interrelates with provincial and other federal government processes

  • enhance your understanding of the roles and responsibilities that project proponents and federal departments and agencies have under the Act (including the public registry)

  • inform you about how the Agency can provide further support
