Construction of the Highway 35 between St-Jean-sur-Richelieu and the american border

Transport Canada, Fisheries and Oceans Canada and Infrastructure Canada will conduct a comprehensive study commencing on June 9, 2005 of the project:
Construction of the Highway 35 between St-Jean-sur-Richelieu and the american border.
Construction of the highway A35 between St-Jean-sur-Richelieu and the american border for a total of 38 km. inluding a section in the Migratory Birds Wildlife Refuge of Philipsburg. It includes the construction of a four lane divided highway with access at interchanges.
Under section 5 of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, an EA is required for this project because Transport Canada may provide financial assistance to the proponent for the purpose of enabling the project and may issue an approval under paragraph 5(1)(a) of the Navigable Waters Protection Act; Fisheries and Oceans Canada may issue a permit or license under subsection 35(2) of the Fisheries Act and Infrastructure Canada may provide financial assistance to the proponent for the purpose of enabling the project.
This project is also being assessed by the Government of Québec.
The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency will act as the Federal Environmental Assessment Coordinator for this environmental assessment.
