Welcome to the Help page of the Canadian Conservation Institute (CCI) Web site. The information contained on this page will assist you in navigating the site.

The Site map below is a guide to the layout of the CCI Site.

The navigation bars that appear on the top and left side of every page will take you directly to the indicated section with a single click of your mouse. There are also a number of spotlights on the Home page that provide direct access to some of our most requested information.

If you are unable to locate the information you require, we will be happy to assist you. Please submit your request to Client Services (cci-icc_services@pch.gc.ca).

Content

Most of the content on this site is presented in html format (like this page). For optimum viewing, your monitor should have a resolution of 800 x 600 pixels. Your WWW browser should be capable of displaying tables, handling electronic forms, displaying graphic images, and supporting all html extensions. A minimal connection of 28 800 BPS is recommended.

Many documents are also available in Portable Document Format (pdf). To view these files you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Viewing the CCI Virtual Tour requires the QuickTime Plug-in from Apple Computers. To determine whether or not you already have the correct plug-in, click here to test your browser.

Some pages on the site require Macromedia Flash Player to enjoy the best presentation of the content. However, these pages also have an html equivalent so that the information can be viewed without having to install the plug-in.

'Cookies' (special random identifiers that consist of small text files stored on the hard drive of the user’s computer) are used on the site to assist in navigation. In some cases, the cookies expire once the browser is closed. No other use is made of the information gathered through cookies.

Scripting

Javascript is used on the site to improve efficiency and to offer some enhanced visual features and basic validation of form submissions. You will be able to navigate the site even if Javascript is not enabled on your browser, but you will not be able to see some of the enhanced features.

Searching

Searches initiated from the Search page will be performed on most of the CCI Web site. Searches do not include the Conservation Information database or the Bookstore. These sections have their own, individual search engines.
