The Arab American National Museum

In the spring of 2000 it seemed an idea whose time had come. There was not a single Arab-American museum in the United States, but there was also no funding, collection, building, or consensus on programming. Then Sept. 11 happened, and suddenly an Arab-American museum looked almost impossible. Anan Ameri, founding director of the Arab-American National Museum, recounts the long journey and the lessons learned along the way in the latest issue of Museum News.
