Terms of Internships

Eligibility — Applicants must either be currently enrolled in post-secondary programming leading to a diploma or degree in conservation, science, or a relevant field or have completed appropriate studies within the last 5 years.

Funding — Applicants are responsible for procuring their own funding as CCI does not provide financial support for internships. The Institute will notify funding bodies for successful applicants if the name(s) and complete mailing address(es) of the person(s) to be notified are included with the application (attach separate page). Successful foreign applicants will be asked to provide proof of financial self-sufficiency for the duration of their internship.

Security — Successful applicants will be asked to provide official documentation verifying they do not have a criminal record.

Insurance — Successful applicants are expected to arrange for their own travel, accident, and health insurances while at the Institute and during transit. Foreign interns must arrange appropriate coverage prior to entering Canada or within 5 working days after arrival.

Selection Process

CCI will confirm receipt of each application with a letter of acknowledgement to the candidate. A multidisciplinary team of evaluators will then review all applications so that each receives fair consideration. Decisions will be made and announced in April 2001, when candidates will receive a written offer of acceptance or notice of decline.

Note: Although CCI accepts interns from all countries, preference is given to Canadian citizens and landed immigrants.

Internship applications will be accepted on an annual basis during the following periods:

  • November 1 - December 15
  • February 1 - March 15
  • September 1 - October 15

The deadline for receipt of applications is October 15, 2001.
