Call for Proposals

The purpose of the Call for Proposals is to solicit proposals from interested parties who wish to conduct research in one of the priority areas of the R&D Program. The Agency will fund up to two projects per year, for approximately up to $75,000 per project.

The 2006-2007 Call for Proposals is now closed. The next Call for Proposals will be announced in the spring of 2007. To receive announcements about the Research and Development Program, email us at rd@ceaa-acee.gc.ca and ask to be added to our R&D distribution list.

Current Research Priorities Areas

Priority areas are chosen by the Agency in consultation with stakeholders and are reviewed and modified as needed to address emerging trends.

The Agency is currently accepting research proposals in the following areas:

The Agency enters into agreements with individuals or organizations wishing to conduct research in one or more of these areas on an annual basis. If you wish to apply for funding, your proposal must address one or more of these areas.

Who Can Apply

Proposals may be submitted from the following organizations and individuals that are based in Canada:

  • Provincial, municipal, local governments or Aboriginal governments and public agencies;
  • Not-for-profit organizations such as charitable and voluntary organizations, professional associations, environmental non-governmental organizations (ENGOs), and educational institutions;
  • Aboriginal peoples' organizations and associations;
  • Local organizations such as community associations and groups, seniors’ and youth groups, and service clubs;
  • For-profit organizations, such as small businesses, companies, corporations and industry associations; and
  • International and intergovernmental organizations and foreign governments.

How to Apply for Funding

To apply for funding, interested individuals and/or organizations must submit a research proposal to the Agency during the dates for the Annual Call for Proposals.

To be considered for funding:

  • Seven (7) copies of the proposal must be received at the Agency by courier by 5:00 p.m. (17:00 hrs) on or before the deadline;
  • the proposal must contain all of the information requirements described in the Proposal Format section; and
  • the proposal must clearly relate to one or more of the current research priority areas.

Proposal Format

The Proposal Format Guidelines explain the information and format that your proposal must contain in order to be considered for funding through the Research and Development Program.

Failure to adhere to any part of the Guidelines will result in your proposal being eliminated from consideration.

Important Dates

This information is updated annually to inform prospective authors of the dates that the Agency will be accepting research proposals. Notification of the Call for Proposals is also e-mailed to individuals on the Agency's R&D distribution list.
