Upgrade and combine seven water systems in Sauble Beach into the newly named Amabel-Sauble water system

Industry Canada will conduct a comprehensive study commencing on November 29, 2004 of the project:
Upgrade and combine seven water systems in Sauble Beach into the newly named Amabel-Sauble water system.
Major works for this project include:
∙ Construction of a new well at the Amabel Community School site
∙ Upgrading of the existing school well (installation of a new well casing and grout to bottom)
∙ Construction of a new treatment building and associated site works at the school site, including:
∙ construction of a clearwell
∙ installation of an iron removal system
∙ installation of a cartridge filtration and ultraviolet disinfection system
∙ installation of a standby power generator
∙ provide for process wastewater treatment
∙ installation of pumps, valves, piping, electrical and mechanical works, instrumentation, etc.
∙ Decommission the existing seven wells and pumphouses
∙ Installation of 6.7 km of transmission water main to connect the seven distribution systems.
Under section 5 of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, an EA is required for this project because Industry Canada may provide financial assistance to the proponent for the purpose of enabling the project.
The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency will act as the Federal Environmental Assessment Coordinator for this environmental assessment.
