Contaminated Work - Cap St-Ignace

Cap-Saint-Ignace (QC)

November 8, 2006 -- Fisheries and Oceans Canada will conduct a screening commencing on November 8, 2006 of the project: Contaminated Work - Cap St-Ignace.

Excavation of contaminated soils in the sector of the former navigation aid (estimated volume of 7 m3). Disposal of excavated soil at an authorized site. Remediation of the decontaminated sector. The assessment will cover the impact of the work on the physical environment (soil, water), vegetation, threatened plants and wildlife. The scope of the project will cover excavation activities, the removal and disposal of contaminated soils and site remediation. The geographic scope of the assessment is limited to the work area.

Under section 5 of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, an EA is required for this project because Fisheries and Oceans Canada is the proponent for the project.
