Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions will conduct a screening commencing on January 15, 2007 of the project:
Construction of an infiltration bed and corrective work to the existing wastewater treatment plant.
The project consists in the installation of an infiltration bed downstream from the existing plant. The scope of the project for the purpose of the environmental evaluation covers the following activities and interventions, including the elements that cannot be dissociated with: construction of one pumping station, one main force line, one flow distribution station, the infiltration bed and all the related equipment and installations; and operation of the installations.
The scope also includes the following elements, as needed: all other activity or installation linked to the construction, operation and abandonment of the elements listed above, more specifically: construction, setting up and operation of temporary or permanent petroleum products storage facilities; installation and operation of electrical equipment and generators; development, operation and abandonment of borrow pits; construction and operation of all structures, buildings and facilities or the implementation of temporary activities during the work cut over period; management of wastewater; potential soil and ground water contamination; and all other elements related to the project.
Under section 5 of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, an EA is required for this project because Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions may provide financial assistance to the proponent for the purpose of enabling the project.
