EXERCICE GUERRIER INNOVATEUR 2004 (Ex de guerre hivernale - Winter warfare exercice) February 2 to 16 2005

Charlevoix (QC)

November 24, 2004 -- National Defence will conduct a screening commencing on November 22, 2004 of the project: EXERCICE GUERRIER INNOVATEUR 2004 (Ex de guerre hivernale - Winter warfare exercice) February 2 to 16 2005.

2eR22eR from Valcartier will be conducting a winter military training for less than two weeks in the area of Charlevoix in February 2005. The training of the 600 men will be by groups of 30 to 120. All kinds of military vehicles like helicopters, snowmobiles, light armoured vehicles (VBL III) and Heavy wheel vehicles (10 tons) will be used. The timings and the areas used will be planned before the exercise begins. There is going to be training in specific built up areas and along some roads. The training will be conducted around the clock and only blank ammunitions will be used.We do not plan to build permanent installations.

Under section 5 of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, an EA is required for this project because National Defence is the proponent for the project.
