NOTICE OF COMMENCEMENT

of an environmental assessment

Expand Crab Processing Plant

St. Mary's (NL)

March 23, 2005 -- The Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency will conduct a screening commencing on March 23, 2005 of the project: Expand Crab Processing Plant.

The proponent proposes to construct a building extension onto the existing crab processing plant in St. Mary's, NL. The expansion will increase the receiving capacities of the plant. Also, new equipment will be purchased to increase production and quality control at the plant.

Under section 5 of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, an EA is required for this project because the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency may provide financial assistance to the proponent for the purpose of enabling the project.
