Salvage of Mountain Pine Beetle infested Lodgepole pine - Tatla West IR 11

Tatla West Indian Reserve 11 (BC)

April 25, 2006 -- Indian and Northern Affairs Canada will conduct a screening commencing on April 11, 2006 of the project: Salvage of Mountain Pine Beetle infested Lodgepole pine - Tatla West IR 11.

This CEAA Screening pertains to the proposed salvage logging of Block 1 (11-01, 02) to remove beetle infested timber on Tatla West IR 11. The silviculture system for the block will be clearcut with reserves harvested in either summer or winter and will encompase an area of 8.2 hectares (Block 1). TIMBER PERMIT "A" NO. 1-725-07447 - (06/07) - MOUNTAIN PINE BEETLE SALVAGE HARVESTING - TATLA WEST IR 11 - WET'SUWET'EN FIRST NATION.

Under section 5 of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, an EA is required for this project because Indian and Northern Affairs Canada may issue a permit or license under subsection 5(1) of the Indian Timber Regulations.
