The National Energy Board will conduct a screening commencing on May 8, 2006 of the project:
Shell Canada Limited (Shell) Summer 2006 Geological Field Trip.
Shell is proposing a summer 2006 Geological Field Trip which will be conducted in both the Northwest Territories and the Yukon. The program will be located on lands administered by the Inuvialuit Land Administration, the Gwich'in Land Administration and Indian and Northern Affairs Canada. The proposed program consists of helicopter surveys, on-the-ground visual and written observations, and rock outcropping sampling. The field trip is scheduled to begin on August 15 and be completed by August 30, 2006.
Under section 5 of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, an EA is required for this project because the National Energy Board may issue a permit or license under paragraph 5(1)(b) of the Canada Oil and Gas Operations Act.
This project is also being assessed by the Inuvialuit Final Agreement Regime.
The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency will act as the Federal Environmental Assessment Coordinator for this environmental assessment.
