Phase II/III Environmental Site Assessment at the Louisbourg Lightstation

Louisbourg Harbour (NS)

October 31, 2006 -- Fisheries and Oceans Canada will conduct a screening commencing on October 31, 2006 of the project: Phase II/III Environmental Site Assessment at the Louisbourg Lightstation.

Phase II/III Environmental Site Assessment at the Louisbourg Lightstation The Proponent proposes to conduct a Phase II/III Environmental Site Assessment at the Louisbourg Lightstation which is located on the north side of the entrance to Louisbourg Harbour in Louisbourg, Nova Scotia. The site is also located within the Louisbourg National Historic Park which is owned by Parks Canada. The purpose of the Phase II/III ESA is to assess the soil quality at the site and conduct building material sampling at the light tower.

Under section 5 of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, an EA is required for this project because Fisheries and Oceans Canada is the proponent for the project.
