Demolition and Construction of Burpee Bridge at the Acadia Research Forest Centre

Natural Resources Canada and National Defence will conduct a screening commencing on April 16, 2004 of the project:
Demolition and Construction of Burpee Bridge at the Acadia Research Forest Centre.
Natural Resources Canada is proposing the demolition of the existing bridge in order to replace it with an all new structure of concrete abutments, steel stringers and untreated wooden deck. The demolition and construction will be done by the Department of National Defence 4 Engineer Support Regiment from CTC Gagetown as a training operation which constitutes a group of 150 individuals.
The scope of the project will include, the installation of a temporary field camp, the demolition of the existing bridge, the construction of the new bridge and the decommissioning of the field camp.
Under section 5 of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, an EA is required for this project because Natural Resources Canada is the proponent for the project and National Defence may provide financial assistance to the proponent for the purpose of enabling the project.
Natural Resources Canada will act as the Federal Environmental Assessment Coordinator for this environmental assessment.
