BREAKWATER CONSTRUCTION - RESOLUTE BAY

Resolute (NU)

September 21, 2004 -- Fisheries and Oceans Canada will conduct a screening commencing on September 17, 2004 of the project: BREAKWATER CONSTRUCTION - RESOLUTE BAY.

CONSTRUCTION OF A JETTY IN RESOLUTE BAY The scope of the project includes the physical impacts associated with the construction and maintenance of the jetty.

Under section 5 of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, an EA is required for this project because Fisheries and Oceans Canada may issue a permit or license under subsection 35(2) of the Fisheries Act.

This project is also being assessed by the Nunavut Land Claim Agreement Regime.

The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency will act as the Federal Environmental Assessment Coordinator for this environmental assessment.
