GRENFELL
REGIONAL HEALTH SERVICES (GRHS)
GRHS
provides integrated health and community services throughout
northern Newfoundland and southern Labrador north of and including
Great harbour Deep and New Ferolle on the Northern Peninsula
and from Norman Bay to Lanse au Clair in southern Labrador.
This area has a population of 18,450. In addition, GRHS provides
specialty services to the Quebec North Shore, the northern part
of the western Region and central and northern Labrador.
FACILITIES
GRHS
operates a hospital, health centers, community clinics, and
long-term care facilities.
The health
centers are staffed by regional nurses (nurse practitioners),
physicians, dentists, public health nurses and laboratory and
X-ray technologist. Open 24 hours a day, the health centers
offer scheduled visits by specialty physicians and allied health
professionals.

The community
clinics are staffed by regional nurses (nurse practitioner/public
health nurse). Open Monday to Friday, after hours and weekends
on call, the community clinics offer scheduled visits by physicians,
dentists, ophthalmologist and allied health professionals.

CHARLES S. CURTIS MEMORIAL HOSPITAL
This 61-bed
hospital in St. Anthony offers a range of services for the
region including: cancer care; obstetrical services; diagnostic
imaging services (including: CT scan, mammography and ultrasound);
laboratory; specialized intensive care services; and surgical
services (including: dental surgery; emergency trauma surgery;
ENT surgery; general surgery; gynecology surgery; obstetrics;
ophthalmology surgery; orthopedic surgery; peripheral/vascular
surgery; thoracic surgery; and urology surgery).
