Arts

In March 2006, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador released its cultural policy document, Creative Newfoundland and Labrador: The Blueprint for Development and Investment in Culture. In this policy, Government recognizes the professional status of artists and commits to promoting and supporting their valuable contribution to this province’s social and economic life. The objectives outlined in the policy are:

  • To increase direct support to, and recognition of, professional artists.
  • To improve the economic status and security of the province’s professional artists by bringing more stability and benefits to their working conditions.
  • To increase public access to the province’s artists and their artistic creations.
